But not all fat is bad for you.  Some fats can promote good health.  The body needs fat to absorb vitamins, to produce hormones, and to absorb calcium and other minerals.  Fat is also necessary to help blood clot, protecting internal organs, and provide energy.  So you need to include healthy fats in your diet.  Here are some good things to incorporate in your Low Fat Diet:

  • Avoid fried foods
  • Choose high-fiber foods, they are usually low in fat
  • Plant foods, like avocados, that are naturally high in fat are healthy
  • Limit high fat animal foods
  • Soy protein is low in saturated fat

Breakfast: Cold cereal of choice with fruit, cottage cheese, milk and toast

Lunch: Chicken breast sandwich with fruit and salad

Dinner: Beef and pepper sauté with rice pilaf and fruit

Snack: Cheesy pita chips with club soda
